IBMC #8 : Corporate Ladder

IBMC #8 : Corporate Ladder

So, I’ve been asked to pick a nursery rhyme and make a new interpretation of it. I choose – ‘Ten in the Bed’. This is a simple number song which introduces toddlers to numbers and counting.

 Ten

There were ten in the bed

And the little one said, ‘Roll over, roll over!’

So they all rolled over and one fell out.

Nine

There were nine in the bed

And the little one said, ‘Roll over, roll over!’

So they all rolled over and one fell out.

And so on… till

There was one in the bed

and the little one said, ‘I’m lonely!’

And here’s my version of the rhyme:

Ten!

Corporate ladder by ‘Ed Massey’

There were ten on the ladder

And the ambitious one said,

Pull the top one, pull the top one!

So they all pulled him

And he fell down…

Nine!

There were nine on the ladder

And the ambitious one said,

Pull the top one, pull the top one!

So they all pulled him

And he fell down…

And so it goes on… until…

One!

There was one on the ladder

And the ambitious one said,

“I’m lonely!!”

-Because, Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success.

Generation Gap

I have my differences with my parents.

They think rules are made for a reason.

Why, they are made to be broken!

They say bungee-jumping can kill you.

When all it can do is thrill you.

They believe ‘You do or die’.

I just want to do it before I die.

They keep saying “You won’t understand,

Until you get your own child!”

But I know for sure, in their youth,

They must’ve been equally wild.

Agreed! I’m not yet there,

I’m just making a start.

But why can’t they understand me?

Come on, they’ve been there, they’ve done that!

The birds are learning to fly

The birds are learning to fly

I know I was a little wobbly before
Now I smoothly surf on fierce tide
I have gained a lot of things so far
But there is always some more to find
Don’t worry mom I will be fine my own,
Just promise that you will not cry…
The birds are learning to fly,
And soon they will soar in sky!

The world is bigger than I thought it was,
There are men –both evil and kind
And I want to feel both day and night
All parts of life that god has designed
Don’t worry mom I will be fine my own,
Keep on smiling and say goodbye…
The birds are learning to fly,
And soon they will soar in sky!

Aside

The skill

Who says successful people are always positive.

There is so much negativity inside them.

We always see the positive side

And then we draw upon us futility and shame.

They do not worry about how to start,

They never stop ‘coz of any obstacle.

Neither do they entertain infertile chatter,

Nor do they believe in any miracle.

They almost always work and it seems

That they never stop whatever it is that they do,

Maybe because of this, that I feel

There’s a positive side to their negativity too…

I wish I would learn the skill of saying ‘No’

For I can’t keep working on other’s dream anymore!

Though I am in mid-ocean crisis,

I know that very soon I’ll be ashore…

Promises of tomorrow

Promises of tomorrow

The sky glow like gold and the clouds like silver
The touch of cool breeze makes me shiver
Up high and above, there are countless stars,
oh and in the east, I can see the mars.
sitting on the hill, I enjoy the color show!
Oh setting sun, in front of you I bow.
for a passing moment I am crippled with tomorrow’s fear
what if this is a farce, and the end is near?
At the very moment the sun smiles at me
‘There is more to life, I promise thee..
both are important, joys and sorrow’
Saying this he sets, filling me with promises of tomorrow…
